This position is responsible for managing the month-end close process, producing accurate financial statements and supervising the Accounts Payable function.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain monthly close calendar and journal entry log.
  • Review and post journal entries during month end close.
  • Monitor progress of monthly close and redistribute work if necessary.
  • Ensure journal entries and reconciliations have appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Ensure timely completion of all JSOX control requirements.
  • Prepare eliminating entries for monthly consolidation.
  • Produce monthly management reports in accordance with internal deadlines.
  • Review monthly account reconciliations and ensure they are completed and reviewed timely.
  • Maintain general ledger chart of accounts and account hierarchies in both SAP and BPC.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual schedules for auditors.
  • Review and improve processes; automate manual processes.
  • Review and approve Accounts Payable invoices and ensure expenditures are valid, properly authorized, and coded to the proper general ledger accounts.
  • Provide daily supervision to direct reports, including training, counseling, team-building, supporting, recognizing, and performance evaluation.
  • Assist with other projects as needed.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups)
  • SAP required and BPC reporting preferred
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Effective communications skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited university.
  • CPA preferred - Minimum 4 years of supervisory experience either with a Big 4 or National firm.
  • GAAP knowledge in wholesale and distribution industry.
