Senior Accountant, Staff

Currently screening accounting professionals for a Senior Accountant, Staff  position with a growing beverage company.  This role will be a key member of their accounting and finance team managing all aspects of the company’s routine general ledger operations. 

  • Oversee month-end financial close (i.e. administer close schedule, reconcile general ledger accounts, analyze account discrepancies, etc.) and produce error-free financial reports
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and bank reporting requirements (Borrowing Base, Aging, etc.)
  • Interact with other departments to confirm proper execution of routine daily transactions (i.e. receipt of goods, AR invoicing, AP invoicing, freight reconciliation, cash applications, production entries, concur expense reporting, etc.)
  • Support Controller by preparing analytical tools such as sales analyses, trend reports, etc.
  • Help prepare and monitor key performance indicators
  • Supervise Staff Accountant in carrying out monthly financial tasks (i.e. bank reconciliation, freight reconciliation, accruals, etc.) and review their work ensure correctness
  • Review journal entries and confirm all proper supporting documentation is provided
  • Examine general ledger reports and investigate and report any irregularities
  • Develop and catalog procedures and accounting policies to maintain and enhance internal controls
  • Work with Controller and VP of Finance to review & implement improvements to accounting systems and procedures for increased efficiency
  • Manage financial audits – create schedules, assign audit request tasks by department, consolidate, analyze, and submit work papers to audit firm
  • Assist with tax return preparations and semi-annual bank audits
  • Manage states’ sales and use tax filings in addition to bottle bill reporting
  • Manage, lead, train and develop staff
  • Perform Ad-Hoc assignments and special projects as assigned
Education & Skills
  • Minimum B.S. in Accounting, Finance, Business or Mathematics
  • 2 years’ experience as a Staff Accountant
  • Mas 90, Mas 200, SAGE ERP 100, SAP experience
  • Concur experience preferred
  • MS Office proficiency including Advanced Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong detail oriented leader with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must demonstrate exceptional analytical / critical thinking skills and attention to detail
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
  • Good understanding of GAAP, financial statements, and month-end/year-end close processes
