Corporate Accounting Manager

Currently seeking a Corporate Accounting Manager to take ownership and complete oversight responsibilities of managing the day-to-day accounting for a well established company.  
  • Responsible for the completeness and accuracy of the general ledger accounts prepared by the Property Accounting Staff and Supervisors
  • Analyze and review property income statements and balance sheets’ monthly trends, key ratios, and fluctuation explanations
  • Coordinate the preparation of the Accounting reporting package for management review
  • Prepare monthly financial analyses as part of the month-end close, including capitalization of indirect cost calculations, MD&A analyses, and FFO analysis, etc.
  • Perform technical accounting research and prepare technical memorandum and financial analyses to support the Company’s position on the accounting of significant transactions such as acquisitions, dispositions, bond and equity offerings, and complex lease accounting
  • Take a lead role in coordinating efforts between Accounting and the Legal Department to complete the due diligence review of real estate closing statements
  • Act as a liaison between Accounting and Regional Asset Services teams to provide accounting and financial reporting support to the regional teams as it relates to areas such as lease accounting interpretations, property financial reports, etc.
  • Act as a liaison between Accounting and External and Internal Auditors to manage the quarterly reviews and annual audits
  • Lead quarterly accounting projects such as annual year-end CAM reconciliations, annual budgets, and debt compliance review, etc.
  • Active role in supporting the Financial Reporting team and Executive Management with the preparation of financial analyses for the Company’s earnings call, 10Q/10K and Supplemental reporting
  • Assist with special projects such as process improvements, risk management analysis, accounting for business transactions, regional reporting, and other ad-hoc projects
Leadership Responsibilities
Directly supervise staff employees and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities include:
  • General oversight of accounting staff employees o Interviewing, hiring, and coaching staff employees on career development
  • Training staff employees such as technical accounting concepts and soft skills
  • Planning, assigning and directing work, and appraising performance o Addressing concerns and solving problems
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • 5+ years of accounting experience required, with 3 to 4 years of Big 4 Public Accounting experience and 2 to 3 years of private experience preferred
  • Public commercial real estate experience preferred
  • CPA required • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; Ability to interact with all levels including, but not limited to HQ/field personnel, senior management, lenders, third party vendors, etc.
  • Proficient in business related software: Microsoft Excel, Word, Access; JDE experience is desirable
  • Public commercial real estate experience
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Technical accounting research skills desirable.
  • Experience managing a large accounting team (approximately 10 – 15 staff)
  • Ability to initiate ideas and implement process improvements
